WhatsApp reminders: schedule the nudge and the app sends it to your client

Schedule a WhatsApp message inside your client's plan and the app sends it at the time you choose, from the TrainerStudio number. You can also set it up in your programs so it applies when you assign them.

Making sure a client doesn't skip their workout shouldn't depend on you remembering to message them at nine in the morning. Until now, reminding them was one more manual message on your to-do list.

Now you can schedule WhatsApp reminders. You add them inside a day of your client's plan, write the message and choose the time; at that time it reaches their phone on WhatsApp, even if they don't have the training app open.

What changes:

  • Schedule it once and it sends itself. On a day of the plan, press «+» → «WhatsApp reminder», write the text (up to 100 characters) and the time. The app takes care of the rest.
  • It arrives on WhatsApp, from TrainerStudio. The message goes out from the company number —not from your personal phone— and it also stays in your WhatsApp conversation with the client, in case they reply.
  • Build it into your programs. Add reminders to a program's days and, when you assign it to a client, they're scheduled automatically on their dates.
  • WhatsApp or push? In the same dialog you can choose a Push notification to the client's app instead of WhatsApp.

It's the difference between remembering every nudge yourself and having the app send it for you at exactly the right time.

Visual circuit timer: Tabata, EMOM, AMRAP and more, guided

Add a timer to a circuit and your client trains it guided: full-screen countdown, beeps and vibration on every change. Tabata, EMOM, AMRAP, For time and more, with the times you set.

A circuit that reads well on the sheet doesn't always train well: the client loses the rhythm checking their phone, counting seconds by eye and unsure when to switch exercises. Interval work lives or dies by tempo — and until now that tempo was on each person to keep.

Now any circuit can carry a timer. Press Add timer, choose the format, set the times, and your client trains it guided: a full-screen countdown that tells them exactly what to do every second.

What changes:

  • Pick the format you already use. Tabata, Intervals, Stations, EMOM, AMRAP, Density, For time, Rounds for time, Chipper, Ladder and Rounds. Each format shows only the fields that make sense (work/rest, rounds, interval, total duration, time cap…).
  • You set the times. Work, rest, preparation and number of rounds. The app computes the total duration and shows it on a timeline before you save.
  • The client trains guided, full-screen. Large countdown, colors per phase (prep, work, rest), beeps and vibration on every change, and the screen stays awake. They can pause, skip or finish whenever they want.
  • It resumes where they left off. If the session is interrupted, they can pick the circuit back up from where they were.
  • No double work. The timer is saved with the circuit in the routine; in interval formats, each exercise's sets follow the timer so you never have to line them up by hand.

It's the difference between telling a client "do this circuit" and handing them a workout that runs itself.

Prescribe in % of 1RM and let TrainerStudio work out the kilos

Program in percentages and we fill in the kilos. Each client sees their own weight, calculated from their 1RM, without you touching anything when their max changes.

Most of you program strength in intensity percentages: 3 × 5 at 85%, deload at 60%, heavy week at 80%. That's how a routine makes sense to read.

The problem comes when you assign it: every client has a different 1RM, so you have to translate that 85% into kilos one by one. With ten clients, you multiply the time by ten. And every time someone hits a new max, back to the routine you go.

We've moved that step into the editor. Mark the weight column as Calculate from 1RM, type the percentage and TrainerStudio shows you the resulting kilos next to it, using the client's latest 1RM.

What changes:

  • You prescribe in %, the client sees kilos. The routine keeps your language (intensity) and the client sees what they need (weight).
  • It recalculates itself. If the client's bench goes from 100 to 110 kg, all their active routines reflect the new weight without you touching anything.
  • A single % or a range. Both 75 % and 70-80 % work (deloads, autoregulation).
  • No recorded 1RM? Set it inline. A Set 1RM button appears in the cell: press it, type the weight, and the kilos appear instantly across the routine.
  • No recent test? Estimate it. In the editor's 1RM panel, Estimate from a set asks for weight, reps and optionally RIR/RPE. It shows you Epley, Brzycki and Lombardi side by side; you pick one and save it.
  • Rebuilt mobile editor. Larger inputs, set type as a badge with a caret, the same templates menu as on desktop and a better touch area per accordion. The 1RM panel only appears if the routine has a load column; if not, only the History tab remains.

It's what we'd been wanting to give you for a while: assigning the same routine to a new client should no longer cost you half an hour with a calculator.

Unlimited undo and Google Docs-style plan change history

Edit without fear: undo and redo cover every planner action, and the new Change history lets you save, preview and restore complete versions of your client's plan.

Editing a client's plan no longer means treading carefully. From now on there are two ways to go back, and they complement each other.

Real undo and redo. The planner's undo button covers every action: creating or deleting blocks, moving exercises between days, copying a week, hiding days, bulk-replacing exercises, assigning a program or editing sets. If you go too far, redo brings the change back. The classic keyboard shortcuts work as you'd expect.

We've also fixed a couple of legacy behaviors that caused trouble: a move between blocks is now reverted in one go (before, undo only reverted half of the move), changes to day visibility are recorded too, and editing a session that has already happened no longer blocks undo. If several coaches work on the same client, each one only reverts their own changes, without stepping on anyone else's work.

Plan change history. From the View → Change history menu you open a side panel where you can save up to 10 complete snapshots of the client's upcoming plan, with an optional label. TrainerStudio also saves automatic versions while you edit and always creates a "before restoring" version before a restore, so even if you restore the wrong thing you can go back without losing anything. Saved versions don't expire: they stay there until you decide to delete them.

Preview before restoring. Press the eye icon on any version and a window opens in columns, one per day, with the blocks, exercises, sets and instructions of that snapshot. Read-only: compare, decide and then restore (or not). It saves you the "oops, that wasn't the one".

Editable labels. Click the name of any version to rename it inline — handy if you saved something in a rush and now want to give it a name that means something to you. Enter saves, Esc cancels.

Delete versions. Each row has a bin button to remove snapshots you no longer need. It only deletes the snapshot; the client's current plan is not touched. It's how you make room when you reach the limit of 10.

Restoring is just one more action in your undo history: if after applying an old version you realize it wasn't what you wanted, one click on undo and you're back where you were. Internal block identifiers are preserved, so any client data linked to them stays correctly connected.

It's the safety net we'd been wanting to give you for a while: experiment, try progressions, copy whole weeks. If something goes wrong, undo it. And if you want to mark a point to come back to in a few weeks, save a version.

Hide scheduled days until you are ready to share them

Plan ahead without revealing the whole program: hide specific days and show them again whenever you want, including in bulk.

You can now prepare workouts in advance and decide which days each client can see. When you hide a day, you still see the planned workouts in the planner, but the client sees that day as empty, just as if nothing had been assigned yet.

This is useful when you want to prepare future weeks without revealing the full plan, adjust a progression before sharing it, or work with clients who should only see the part of the program they need right now.

From each day menu you can hide or show that day. If you are working with several days at once, you can also select them and apply the action in bulk, just like the other bulk actions in the planner.

Hidden days are marked for the coach, so you can quickly tell which content is already prepared but not visible to the client yet. When you are ready to publish it, show the day again and the client will be able to see it in their app.

Push and WhatsApp alerts when a client takes action

Find out instantly what your clients are doing without having to open the app: completed tasks, progress photos, metrics and forms.

Coach notification settings panel
Turn on push, WhatsApp or both for every type of event.
Example of an alert received on WhatsApp
This is how alerts land on your WhatsApp when a client takes action.

You can now turn on automatic alerts to find out, in real time, what your clients are doing without having to open the app. When a client completes a task, uploads a progress photo, logs a metric or answers a form, you get a notification.

For each of those four events you pick the channel you want to be notified through: a push notification on your phone, a WhatsApp message to the number you register, or both at once. You set it up once and it stays active for all of your clients.

It's designed for those moments when you need to react quickly: a question that shows up in a form, a progress photo that deserves a motivating message, a metric that confirms things are going in the right direction. You decide what you care about and how you'd like to be told, and the platform takes care of getting it to you.
